itinerary

Tsavo’s elephants take their colour from the red earth they dust themselves with. In the dry season they come to the waterholes in long lines, and a ground-level hide puts the lens at the height of the water, close enough to hear them drink.

Day 1 · Nairobi

Arrival and an evening briefing in Nairobi.

Day 2 · Into Tsavo

Drive or fly to Tsavo and settle into camp, with a first afternoon at the waterhole.

Days 3 to 7 · Tsavo

Hide sessions at the waterholes in the morning and evening, game drives across the plains in between, and time to photograph lions, lesser kudu and the birds that gather at the water.

Day 8 · Last light

A final day planned around whatever the week has offered, ending with a sundowner on the plains.

Day 9 · Return to Nairobi

A last morning drive, then the return to Nairobi for onward flights.
